Bonjour Patrice,

In May 1990 we began a new chapter in our lives when we purchased the Eisele Vineyard, an event that has shaped our world ever since through the magical terroir of the vineyard, the extraordinary people who work with us to grow the best grapes and make the best wine that we can each vintage, and the very special friends and colleagues who have continued to loyally support the fruits of our labors. It has been a distinct honor to be a small part of Napa Valley history and stewards of this special land. We have received so much: physical beauty, world class wine grapes, classic wines, wonderful coworkers, dedicated customers and great friendships throughout the world. We consider ourselves exceptionally blessed.
Several months ago, we received an unsolicited expression of interest to purchase from the Pinault family, owners of Château Latour and its parent company, the Artémis Group. Out of respect we agreed to listen to a proposal from Frédéric Engerer, CEO of Château Latour. Through subsequent meetings and conversations with Frédéric and the Artémis Group, we became convinced that – although the timing was premature, as we had yet to achieve all of our plans for the estate - they were the perfect buyers of this amazing vineyard we have called home for 23 years. The rich heritage of Latour, combined with the owners’ passion for the wine business, absolute commitment to excellence, and extraordinary track record of success, would assure that the stewardship of Araujo Estate and the Eisele Vineyard continues with the best of care and intentions.
All North America employees, including the entire winemaking team, will remain with the estate under its new ownership; we will stay in residence until January 2014 to assist in the transition. After that we have plans to grow Napa Valley grapes on another special site, make a little wine, and enjoy the next chapter in our lives.
To all of our friends, customers, and employees, please know that our success has been made possible by the tremendous support and enthusiasm you have shown us. It has been a privilege for us to have created and shared Araujo Estate with all of you. We look forward to our next adventure, which we hope to share with you in the future!
With great gratitude,
Daphne and Bart Araujo

Salut Patrice

Proof is in the pudding as they say.
